My Vegan Journey and a Recipe for Kale Chips

When you hear the word vegan, what does it mean to you? Does it freak you out? Do you think it is difficult to be around vegans? Maybe it doesn’t bother you at all. I have found that everyone has a different reaction to the term. Many people don’t even know what it really means.

Do you eat dairy?

Do you eat eggs?

Seafood?

No, no and no. Quite simply, no animals and no animal by products. Nothing made from anything involving an animal. That includes not so obvious foods such as regular table sugar (because it is processed with bone char) and many wines (filtered with gelatin from fish bladders). It seems a little extreme in cases, but it is also about health and not putting things into your body that otherwise don’t need to be there.

If you are wondering where I have been, I have been trying to figure out how to continue blogging with this new lifestyle change. Readers of Mangoes and Chutney do not expect to find vegan dishes here – not all the time anyways – and I no longer eat/cook anything that is not vegan. What next? So, I created a new blog, where people can come to expect only vegan dishes, reviews and rants – and not be confused. My new blog is still me, it is just an extension of me: This Is Me…Vegan.

This Is Me Vegan Website

It is a very simple space. No frills, no thrills, no ads. It is really all about the words and what I want to talk about. You’ll find recipes, book and movie reviews, things I have learned about veganism, products I love, compassionate animal photos and whatever else I want to write about! So, head on over, check it out. Bookmark it and leave me a comment once in a while.

Thank you for reading Mangoes and Chutney for the last 2 1/2 years. It has been a pleasure and I look forward to continuing writing at This Is Me Vegan.

Don’t forget to check out my first (posted) recipe: a simple snack – Cheesy Salt & Pepper Kale Chips.
